SEAT TIME
Got a little seat time today.
First time the weather has been decent enough around here for a while to go outside and play with the tractor.
Doug up a couple of tree stumps with the BH.
Discovered that I hadn't been turning the seat around correctly to operate the BH.
Much more comfortable and easier to run the hoe that way.
Why didn't I discover that last fall when I used the hoe to dig up those 8 or 10 trees?

Just got in some more seat time.
This is the second time today.
Don't know how that happened but I seem to be on a roll.
Just tool out another tree stump-this one was a sassafras. Still have the smell of it up my nose.

Hmmm, sassyfrass, not all that bad to have lingering in the nose. We used to make a tea from the roots... You are a lucky guy, it is really frozen here in Wisconsin, but did reach just over 40 degrees today....John

We made tea from the roots of that tree 30 or more years ago.

Took advantage of the 56 degree temperature we had here today at the confluence of the Ohio and Muskingum Rivers to get some seat time digging out another tree stump.

It was from 1958 to 1964 that I lived on the Green and Ohio rivers on Indiana and Kentucky borders . There was a lot of sasafrass, almost every roadside in the country was full of them. dug the rots, peeled them , and boiled them for tea.. John

No seat time here yet. Everything in Central Iowa is covered in a layer of ice this morning. Good thing it's New Years Day and I've got no where to go except the couch.

Iowafun; Things are getting real nasty here in Linn County as I speak. I just went to farm and back (3 miles). Nothing much more helpless than a pickup on glare ice. Guess I'll work on taxes today being I can't do anything much more exciting. Keep safe. Frank.

It's a balmy 60 degrees here today.
Got in 5 hours of seat time on 2 tractors.
My next door neighbor even got in on the fun too.
After we finished I let him drive the BX23 back to the garage.

lbrown, enjoy your warm weather! I've still got ice covering everything at my place. Not as bad as northern Iowa, but still bad enough that I'm not trying the 15 miles to town.
Supposed to get more crap today as well. Should make for a fun Monday morning drive to work. I like winter, but not the ice storms.
Hardwood, glad to know you made it around safely. It looked bad out there. I stayed it after watching my dog almost bite it on my ice covered gravel driveway. I may have to take the tractor out there today to bust up the ice. My driveway is a downhill slope. I'd like the wife to be able to stop before the road!
